The Craft of Our HÖM Candle
The Craft Of Our Candle
You can’t hurry passion or timing, it seems. Creating a HÖM Candle is a spiritual connection that requires loving care and patience. Crafted in Ellicott City, Maryland, modern technology has been side stepped in favor of our handmade approach to ensure that every HÖM Candle is perfectly curated. And, when we say handmade, we mean it literally.
Our candle making is an old school approach of faith, science, and creativity. Of course, there are easier ways to do it, but you should know by now that we believe in making connections through our products. Each candle is unique and has an incredible fragrance, faith-inspired scripture that will allow an unforgettable experience while enjoying.
Once the fragrances are determined for each name of the candle, it’s time to hit the production line. Fine fragrance oil is blended into slowly warmed wax; we use a unique blend of an all natural qualitative wax — coconut-soy, creating a stable burn, hand-poured into warmed individual glasses.
For each new candle the wax composition is altered in order to suit the fragrance oil, and a natural cotton wick carefully selected from a long list we choose from.
The next step is setting the wick. It’s a very finicky responsibility that requires a steady hand. Each wick is placed by hand into soft wax at the heart of the candle to ensure an even burn.
Although not a single candle can burn quite the same way, that’s the beauty of a handmade HÖM Candle, a process this laborious, we couldn’t and wouldn’t do anything less.
Don't judge the melt pool only on the first burn. Coconut blends until often don’t reach a full edge until it is halfway down the jar; it will likely melt off as the glass heats up later in the burn. Wet spots are purely cosmetic and do not affect the candle's scent throw, burn quality, or safety. Mass-produced candles often have wet spots; a normal characteristic of handmade wax products, especially with soy wax.
The last “Aha” moment is they are flashed with an intense heat to ensure the tops are pristine, and the wicks are trimmed to a neat 1/4 inch. A label is then hand applied to the stylish glass vessel. And, finally, for the delightful finishing touch, and then placing the lid of your choice for certain collections.
